Working With Advantage Home Care: What Happens Next, Pay, Orientation and Who to Call

Whether you applied five minutes ago or you have been on a case for years, this is the one page that answers the questions our caregivers ask most. Bookmark it. If something is not here, call 718-375-2707 and a real person picks up.

What happens after you apply

Nobody is left guessing. Every applicant goes through the same four steps, in this order.

  1. You apply online. The caregiver application takes about two minutes. If you do not have a certificate yet, say so; you are still welcome (see training).
  2. You get an email with your document checklist. It lists the nine documents below and includes a secure link to upload photos of them from your phone. Check spam if you do not see it within an hour.
  3. Recruiting reviews your documents and calls you. Once everything is in, a recruiter calls to schedule your orientation. We do not call before the documents are in, so uploading them is what moves you forward.
  4. Orientation, then your first case. After orientation, a coordinator matches you with a client near you, in your language where possible, and stays reachable from day one.

The nine documents we need before orientation

Clear photos or PDFs are fine. Take both sides where noted, make sure names and dates are readable, and use the upload link from your email. Missing one? Upload the rest and call us; we will tell you how to get it.

1. Government IDGreen card, EAD or passport, front and back. Proves identity and U.S. work authorization.
2. Social Security cardSigned, front and back.
3. HHA or PCA certificateYour New York State training certificate. Enrolling in our free PCA class? Recruiting will note it instead.
4. Physical exam formA recent physical from your doctor stating you are fit to work in home care.
5. Rubella and rubeola recordsImmunization or titer results for measles (rubeola) and rubella.
6. TB testA PPD skin test or QuantiFERON blood test result.
7. Two reference lettersFrom previous employers, supervisors or instructors, with a phone number we can call.
8. Drug screenYour drug screening result.
9. Direct deposit informationBank name, routing and account number, or a voided check, so your weekly pay lands in your account.

Orientation: where, when and what to bring

Orientation is held at our offices and is scheduled by recruiting once your documents are complete. Bring your original ID and certificate, and arrive a few minutes early.

Brooklyn office1515 Sheepshead Bay Road, Brooklyn, NY 11235
Near the Sheepshead Bay B/Q station
Bronx office391 East 149th Street, Bronx, NY 10455
Near the 3rd Ave–149th St 2/5 station

At orientation you meet your coordination team, set up your clock-in app, review client care plans, and get your first schedule. Details on both offices, hours and directions.

Pay, benefits and schedules

  • Weekly pay by direct deposit. You are paid every week into the account you gave us. Your exact rate depends on your role and the case and is confirmed with you before you start.
  • Hourly, daily and live-in schedules. Tell your coordinator what works; cases are matched to your availability and your neighborhood.
  • Health insurance and paid time off for eligible employees, plus union membership options.
  • Ongoing in-service training to keep your certificate current, at no cost to you.

Full details are on our caregiver jobs page and why caregivers join our team.

Clocking in and out (EVV)

New York requires electronic visit verification for Medicaid home care, so you clock in when you arrive at the client’s home and clock out when you leave, using the app we set up with you at orientation. A few rules that keep your pay correct:

  • Clock in at the client’s home, not on the way there, and clock out before you leave.
  • If the app will not work (no signal, phone issue), call your coordinator right away so the visit is recorded manually.
  • Never share your login; each caregiver’s clock-ins are their own.

Scheduling, changes and who to call

Your coordinator is your main contact for everything on a case: hours, changes, a client’s condition, a schedule conflict. The coordination team is reachable around the clock.

  • Running late or cannot make a shift? Call 718-375-2707 as early as you can so we can cover the client.
  • Want more hours or a case closer to home? Tell your coordinator; new cases open every week across the five boroughs.
  • Something worries you about a client’s safety or health? Call immediately; in an emergency call 911 first, then us.
  • Pay question? Call the office; have your dates and hours ready.

Our office staff and service coordinators are listed on the team page.

Training, certification and moving up

  • No certificate yet? Our free PCA training in Brooklyn (classes in English or Spanish) gets you the New York State PCA certificate and a job with us on completion. The step-by-step path is in How to become a PCA in NYC.
  • Already a PCA and want HHA cases? Ask your recruiter about the HHA upgrade pathway; HHA vs PCA explains what changes on the job.
  • Keeping your certificate active. In-service training hours are provided by the agency; your coordinator tells you when yours are due.

Caregiver questions, answered

When do Advantage Home Care caregivers get paid?

Weekly, by direct deposit into the account on your direct-deposit form. If a payment looks wrong, call 718-375-2707 with the dates and hours in question.

How do I upload my documents after applying?

Use the secure upload link in the confirmation email you received after applying. It works from your phone, and photos are fine. Cannot find the email? Call 718-375-2707 and recruiting will resend it.

Is there an Advantage Home Care caregiver login or app?

Caregivers use the EVV clock-in app, which is set up with you at orientation. There is no separate website login; anything else (schedule, pay, paperwork) is handled by your coordinator by phone.

Where is orientation held?

At our Brooklyn office, 1515 Sheepshead Bay Road, or our Bronx office, 391 East 149th Street, whichever is closer to you. Recruiting schedules it once your documents are complete.

Does Advantage Home Care offer health insurance and PTO to home health aides?

Yes, health insurance and paid time off for eligible employees, plus union membership options. Eligibility depends on your hours and role and is explained at orientation.

What if I applied and nobody called me yet?

Most often the documents are not in yet, because recruiting calls after reviewing them. Upload what you have through your email link, then call 718-375-2707 and we will check your file on the spot.

Can I work in Queens, Manhattan or Staten Island?

Yes. We staff cases in all five boroughs and try to match you close to home; tell your coordinator which neighborhoods work for you.

Do you hire Spanish- or Russian-speaking caregivers?

Yes, and many of our clients specifically ask for them. Our coordinators speak Spanish and Russian too, and PCA training is offered in Spanish. Hablamos espaΓ±ol; Π³ΠΎΠ²ΠΎΡ€ΠΈΠΌ ΠΏΠΎ-русски.

Not with us yet?

Apply in two minutes and we will take it from there.
