HHA services are the tasks a certified home health aide performs in a client’s home: personal care such as bathing, dressing and toileting, plus health-related tasks carried out under a nurse’s supervision — medication reminders, taking vital signs, and following a nurse-written plan of care. The aide comes to the home on a set schedule; the care never requires the family to travel.
What is the difference between an HHA and a PCA?
A personal care aide (PCA) handles daily personal care and the household tasks tied to it, but no health-related tasks. A home health aide completes additional certified training and can carry out health-related tasks under nursing supervision. In practice the assessment and the programme authorising your hours decide which one you receive — it is rarely a choice the family makes directly.
What does CHHA mean, and is it the same thing?
